Key positions change on Insurance Council Board
The Board of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed a new President and Deputy President for two-year terms, commencing on January 1, 2013.
The new President and Chairman of the Board will be Mr Mark Milliner, Chief Executive, Personal Insurance for the Suncorp Group, who steps up from Deputy President.
Mr Andy Cornish, Chief Executive Officer, Direct Insurance, with Insurance Australia Group, has been appointed Deputy President.
The appointments were made at a meeting of the ICA Board in Sydney on November 8, 2012.
The outgoing Board President, Mr Rob Scott, Managing Director of Wesfarmers Insurance, welcomed the appointments.
“Mark has served on the Board since November 2009 and has played a vital role – both in his business and Board capacity – in helping steer the industry through several challenging years,” he said.
“I am delighted he is taking the reins at a crucial time for the Insurance Council and its members.
“I am also pleased Andy is taking on the Deputy President role after less than a year on the Board, during which he has made significant contributions.
“On a personal note, I have appreciated the support of the ICA Board and Executive, in particular CEO Rob Whelan, during my two-year term. I look forward to continuing to serve on the Board as a Director and Immediate Past President.”
Mr Milliner said: “Rob Scott has served with distinction as President during a time of unprecedented natural disasters and various government inquiries.
“The ICA has made significant progress during his tenure as President in areas such as tax reform, implementing the industry’s 10-point plan to tackle natural disasters and improving engagement and communication with key stakeholders.
“In 2013-14 I expect the ICA Board will continue to build on its achievements and ensure the industry has a sustainable future in Australia.”
